Difficult as it is, writing a book is only the first phase of a tortuous process. The next step is to get your manuscript noticed. Whether you are approaching an agent, submitting to a publisher or meeting with a bookseller, understanding how to promote your title is critical.
This presentation will provide tips and tools to effectively position your manuscript or book within a crowded marketplace. Participants will receive a template to guide them through the process of determining who to approach and what to say. Be ready to answer the questions that publishing professionals will ask.
This talk is for you if…
• You have a completed manuscript and aren’t sure what to do next
• You are ready to approach a publisher or agent
• You have self-published your book and are wondering how to promote it
In 2010, Lynn founded Vivalogue Publishing with business partner Kilmeny Denny. Drawing upon Lynn’s many years of business and sales experience and Kilmeny’s background in journalism and editing, Vivalogue helps self-published authors achieve creative and financial success. As part of its commitment to the self-publishing community, Vivalogue founded and continues to administer The Whistler Independent Book Awards, sponsored by The Writers’ Union of Canada.
Vivalogue also partnered with Heritage House Publishing to develop and launch their young adult imprint, Wandering Fox Books. This experience inspired Lynn and Kilmeny to found their own trade-publishing company, Tidewater Press, in 2017. Now with five titles in print, and four more scheduled for release in 2020, Tidewater Press publishes real and imagined stories of identity and belonging.
